Mezzanine Garden

The mezzanine garden is an experiment in matrix planting. A matrix planting

Two Anacacho orchids frame the stair of the middle terrace, while datura and desert willow anchor the opposite ends. In between is a matrix planting of tall grasses (Indiangrass, big muhly), medium-height perennials (Salvia greggii, ironweed, Mystic spires salvia, and flame acanthus), a low layer of sedges and purple coneflowers, and and a groundcover layer of wooly stemodia and snakeherb. Other plants include a weeping elbow bush and tall goldenrod.
